Prothom Alo

Prothom Alo is the most popular daily Bangla newspaper in Bangladesh. Daily Prothom Alo is published from Dhaka. The official language is in Bangali. Prothom Alo is the most popular Bangla news paper in Bangladesh. It’s editor is Matiur Rahman.

Prothom Alo was founded back in November 4, 1998. Prothom Alo grew from an initial circulatin of 42,000 to a circulation of a half million copies fast. The newspaper made itself famous by its investigations and strong writings on acid attacks and violence against women. Prothom Alo also pushed for tougher laws against the sale of acid.

Chutir dine: (“On the day off”): This featured supplement goes out every Saturday, covering important and successful stories of Bangladesh. It contains a special section called “special essay“. Special essay covers interesting news of famous journals of outside world. Karjokaron: (“Causal relation“) This section covers scientific explanation of activities. Ghor mon janala covers personal experiences of people and their normal daily lives. A professor of Psychology in Dhaka University, Mehtab Khanom runs this section. Moner janala (“Window of the mind“) provides tips for psychological situations of the audience. Kausar Ahmed Chowdhury, a famous astrologer regularly contributes to Apnar rashi (“Your sign of the zodiac“) that explains fortunes of the readers. Iqbal Hossain Chowdhury is the current editor-in-charge of this 24 page supplement.
